E Ink technology of electronic paper displays is currently the most advanced and widely used electronic paper technology. The majority of ebook readers currently in production use E Ink Corporation displays (including Amazon and Sony). The 9.7″ diagonal display (used on the Kindle DX) has the clarity of newsprint, with a resolution of 150 pixels per inch (PPI) and the capability of displaying multiple shades of gray. Once updated, the display image remains visible without energy, which reduces system power consumption by up to 90% compared to traditional LCDs.
